Description
The colour embraced the warm glow of a sunset over the Sahara, which tantalised our senses with temptation and anticipation. Fulfilling its part of the bargain the nose was a thick and treacly menagerie of molasses and macadamias, covered with milk chocolate and nutmeg. Fruits inclined towards richer realms as dried figs, orange zest and damsons collided with baked apple and rhubarb crumble. The palate volunteered a wondrous display of hazelnuts, prunes and oily juniper berries alongside treacle tart and banana bread dusted with cinnamon and ginger. The finish retained a boozy stance with a combination of spiced rum and amontillado sherry. After spending 14 years in a 1st fill ex-bourbon hogshead this was transferred to an American oak Pedro Ximinez cask for the remainder of its maturation.
