We found the nose light and airy, almost frivolous – Dolly mixtures, jelly beans and marzipan, rose petals and cut flower stems; blueberry muffin and pineapple cake. The palate was tasty, tangy and quite mouth-drying, with tart apple, grapefruit and limeade. Adding water brought some mild spices to the nose – coltsfoot rock, Oddfellows sweets* and root beer, but it also retained sweetness (glazed donuts, caramel, candy floss) and floral fragrance. The palate benefited from water, losing some of its bitterness – pineapple, lime and a touch of salt; delicate, carefree and liberating, a perfect dram for cloud-gazing on a summer’s day.
